Does link directories really help your site?

Have you ever thought of submitting your website to link directories? Maybe once, twice or even way too many times and you’re just not seeing anything changing with your rankings in search engines?

Every web page you have your link on is always an plus towards your website.  It is like a scaling system, every link to your site is a point towards your website, the website with highest points gets to rank better and a better ranking website is what you want.

Some people might low scale directory sites since they contain many other links.  But do NOT be fooled, every and again every link to your site is a plus and it will work your website up, sometimes it might take the search engines days, weeks and even months to scan that directory site since it contains a lot of links, and only links.

I have had a lot of success with directory sites both in traffic, building reputation, and page rank.  I prefer it to every webmaster and suggest you do not low scale directory sites.

Pop-up Blocker

So, having troubles with annoying pop-ups that open up out of nowhere?  Well your browser has tools where you can stop any unwanted pop-ups.

Internet Explorer has a pop-up blocker where you can allow certain websites to run pop-ups and you can disallow any other untrusted websites.  You can find more info and a video tutorial on this link: http://www.google.com/support/toolbar/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=9171

For other browsers, I suggest you to download the Google Toolbar which is featured with bunch of useful tools including a pop-up blocker.

All this is for free!  Never pay for a Pop-up blocker.

How much does it cost to make a website?

The cost of a website can be a huge deal if you do not know what you are expecting.  The cost really depends on what type of a site you are planning to make.

If you are going to make a blog, then your good with about $8 for a domain name per year.

You hosting might cost 5-10$ per month.

If you are making a website for a business, or a website that you will advertise and drive “crazy” traffic to it, then you might still be good for the same amount of money for a domain but..you will have to buy a better hosting service.

Domain = $8/year

Web hosting costs = 10-20$ per month.

For these prices you have to do a good research and get a reliable hosting service.  I recommend Hostgator.com

If you already have your content and files coded and ready to go, good for you.  But if you have nothing right now, you can go 2 ways.

  1. Use a free system like WordPress, SMF, PHP-Nuke ect.
  2. Get someone to code a script for you.

The cost of a coder will depend on what you are getting done and who you are getting it done with.  I recommend you go to forums.digitalpoint.com and find a coder there, it will be much cheaper then going to a professional company.

You could also do it yourself as well…that’s if you know how to of course.
